GENOVA 2022

62nd Genoa International Boat Show, organised by the Italian Marine Industry Association and its subsidiary company I Saloni Nautici and scheduled to take place from 22nd to 27th September,

The largest yachting event on the Mediterranean was presented to a global audience with a renewed layout, anticipating the redevelopment of the Levante Waterfront, which is currently in the process of being completely redesigned according to renowned Italian architect Renzo Piano’s plan, which, starting next year, will provide the event with new docks, new exhibition spaces on the ground, new accommodation, new services, and underground parking.

Building on the experience of the two extraordinary editions of 2020 and 2021, in full contrast with the rest of Europe, the 62nd edition is already showing exceptional figures. “There are over 1,000 boats present, 998 brands on display, bringing 168 world premieres” – commented the President of the Italian Marine Industry Association, Saverio Cecchi. “The Genoa Boat Show is constantly growing, this year the exhibition spaces on the water have increased by 5.2% while the new areas of the Levante waterfront are already under construction, which will guarantee unwavering growth for the next 10 years“.

We are thrilled to be continuing the partnership uniting the Italian Trade Agency, the Italian Marine Industry Association and the Genoa International Boat Show, focusing on the internationalization of businesses. This will be made possible by the participation of foreign buyers from 19 countries and the area dedicated entirely to 10 start-ups at the forefront of sustainable innovation, a section at the service of companies and their development“- declared Carlo Maria Ferro, President of the Italian Trade Agency – “In these days of concern, we would also like to underline a few positive notes: the country’s exports are growing, just like those of the Liguria Region, which exported in the first 6 months over 5 billion euros in goods while figures for yachting tell us that export that grew by 49% in 2021, after the a period of suffering related to the pandemic. Our vision is to move forward: we at the Italian Trade Agency will continue with events and collaborations like these with Genoa and we are not only looking at this year’s Boat Show but at the next editions which will take place on the brand new Levante Waterfront“.

Genoa is always a wonderful celebration– underlined Marco Bucci, Mayor of Genoa –this year we are here again, with a record-breaking industry, we have one more quay and next year the canals will be ready and by 2024 the entire Levante waterfront will be finished: this will be an incredible sight for citizens, tourists and visitors alike, to whom, as the architect Renzo Piano likes to say, we are delivering a unique project step-by-step. For this I thank those who worked on another record-breaking edition and those who are working in a city that once again this Summer broke even more records in terms of tourism. The Ocean Race will be actively taking part in this edition of the Genoa International Boat Show, having chosen Genoa as its finishing line and Grand Finale city for June 2023: this will be an enormous opportunity for a global relaunch of the city, of yachting and, most importantly, of environmental protection. Oceans are a resource that must be protected and in June we will publish a Decalogue dedicated to respecting the ocean, drawn up by the Ocean race team alongside world experts in the sector, with the aim of presenting it to the UN“.

A full program of events and exhibitions alongside the event, from fireworks in Piazza De Ferrari during the opening ceremony to the ‘Genoa, galley of the seas’ event, which will expand the Genoa Boat Show, bringing it to and throughout the city itself“.

With the unmistakable position of authority gained in 2020, the year in which we were the only event in Europe capable of organizing a show, and the world leadership of the Italian industry– commented CEO of I Saloni Nautici,Carla Demariaour ambition as builders must be to govern the future. The new waterfront will also allow us to be more than a container. It will allow us to showcase the result of a new way of thinking about the future. This is why, today, we can announce the first ever World Yachting Sustainability Forum to take place in 2023 with the presentation of the first European Yachting Sustainability Report”.

Online sales of tickets  of the Genoa International Boat Show, compared to the same date in 2021 – that is, 8 days before the opening ceremony – confirm a 37.3% increase in purchases” – explained the Sales Manager for I Saloni Nautici, Alessandro Campagna. “Motorboats represent 51% of the total units on display, RIBS 34%, with sailing and multihulls together representing 15%, however the show is not just a market meeting place for demand and supply.
