2024/08/28Absolute’s history speaks of a determined, innovative team that sees new challenges as opportunities to keep improving and to offer unique boats. The facts prove it, and people can tell. At Absolute, passion and expectations inspire ideas; ideas are shared, and sharing creates outstanding yachts.
A little background knowledge is key to understanding that Absolute's success has been achieved mainly through the skills, personality and team spirit of its leaders.
The Absolute shipyard was founded by Marcello Bè and Sergio Maggi, in Carpaneto, a small town in the Province of Piacenza, Emilia Romagna, in September 2002. Soon joined by an experienced and far-sighted management team, the company made its way into the boating industry with perseverance and determination within a few years, offering a range of sports boats measuring between 39 and 70 feet. They were an immediate success and were awarded for their style and innovation. In the first 5 years of its foundation alone, Absolute introduced 7 new boat models and launched 250 boats; the company increased its staff and opened a new shipyard.
During the 2008 crisis, which hit the leisure marine industry worldwide, the company’s determined, professional and pioneering character emerged and allowed Absolute to grow, stand out and assert its identity on the international scene. Absolute has been able to react to the crisis and to transform it into its greatest opportunity for growth and global expansion. The shipyard strengthened its advertising investment and expanded its sales network, with dealers in many European and non-European countries.
Always investing rather than retreating, the shipyard undertook the “Absolute Global Project” to bring its boats worldwide. As ambitious as it was challenging, the project aimed at strengthening the company in three key areas: engineering, organisation and communication. Speaking to all boat lovers who perceive its Italian identity - in terms of design quality, as well as in its reliable local customer service - Absolute has received numerous international awards and established an effective sales network over the years. The organisation includes a subsidiary in North America, international events, technical training for local operators through courses and meetings held on site and in various international locations, as well as participation in over 50 boat shows every year.
Absolute continued to grow steadily, season after season, designing and building boats with a distinctive character, inspired by the latest market trends and the needs of boat owners. Featuring optimised space, functionality and undisputed luxury, Absolute boats have always been successful in the market and inspired new trends.
The dynamic, innovative spirit of Absolute’s FLY range excels in style and living space. The strong personality and unmistakable design of the Navetta range continue to impress, offering a perfect synergy of technology, elegance and comfort. Last but not least, the sporty lines of the Coupé range, unveiled at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2021, are perfectly matched with on-board comfort to offer the owner maximum versatility and absolute livability. Nowadays the Flybridge range offers modes from 47 till 62 ft , the Navetta's range offers models from 48 till 75 ft and Coupé range has its model of 48ft
Absolute’s history is a constantly evolving success story because it speaks of a passionate, experienced team that shares planning and foresight, creativity and concreteness, experience and customer focus every day.
Absolute Yachts Shipyard
Today Absolute is one of the five leading global companies in its own segment, namely luxury yachts between 47 and 75 feet (from 14 meters to nearly 23). Today the company is a symbol of the celebrated yachting “made in Italy”. It is, also, an emblem of our best entrepreneurship. The turnover in 2010 was € 13.000.000 and in 2016 € 45.000.000, with a net industrial profitability of 24,5% and zero debt and with a cash surplus. So, it was in 2023, and in the meantime in all other analyses, with the 2021 budget closing at € 79.000.000,00 in revenues, industrial profits always at 25%, cash always in surplus. In 2023 the turnover has been around € 102.800.000 (€ 90.000.000 in 2022), and the rest is on track.
Absolute is perhaps the only company in the industry (at least if we are talking of a certain size yachts) that designs everything of a boat: from the structure, to the design, up to the delivery. Translated into construction time, it means that it takes six to eight months to complete the entire process. Once completed the process the yacht is ready for an oversized transport truck that during the night via roads will take it from the shipyard to a port.
At the end of 2023, the second maxi-shed built in 2017 was joined by another building. The 48.000 square meters became 54.000. Most importantly: the number of production workers has been increasing. In 2017 there were about 70 employees. Today there are about 300 employees. In the future, the nine million investment “dedicated” will bring a 20-30% increase in employment. Moreover, further development of green technologies has been carried out: the photovoltaic system will very soon cover the 50 percent of energy needs. Photovoltaic panels have been installed on the yacht for years to ensure
